Vet Services Hawke’s Bay is proud to be a locally owned business which has provided over 70 years of trusted animal care in the Hawke’s Bay region.
First established in 1949 as the ‘Central Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Veterinary Club’ the business was renamed Vet Services Hawke’s Bay in 1967 and has continued to grow, improve and expand their services ever since.
Today, Vet Services has five locally owned and operated veterinary clinics covering Napier, Hastings, Waipukurau, Dannevirke, and Masterton, and employs a team of over one hundred vets and support staff. Their team of veterinarians share a mission to meet the demands of the community, providing excellent and trusted care for farm, lifestyle and companion animals.
With the growth of equestrian sport in the Hawke’s Bay area, Vet Services Hawke’s Bay have found there is an increasing demand for equine focused health care. To meet these demands, Vet Services have initiated a new VS Equine division, dedicated to delivering a high level equine focused veterinary service within their five existing mixed practice vet clinics which make up Vet Services Hawke’s Bay, Dannevirke, and Masterton.
The combined skills of five equine veterinarians across the wider Hawke’s Bay, Dannevirke and northern Wairarapa areas can be utilised to create a more comprehensive veterinary service for both the client and horses’ benefit.
The VS Equine vet team (pictured above at the annual Land Rover Horse of the Year show in March 2020) are all actively involved in a variety of equestrian activity. Whether it is breeding, endurance racing, eventing, hunting or generally owning horses and hacking, it is fair to say horses are all a special interest for this team.
VS Equine have a wide range of specialist equipment which helps their veterinary team offer comprehensive health care. From general health care services such as dentistry, gelding, vaccinations and pre-purchase examinations, to diagnostic radiography, endoscopy, ultrasound imagery, performance and lameness assessment and a 24-hour emergency medical assistance.
VS Equine cater for all types of horses, from ponies through to elite performance and breeding horses.
